ORT Initiates Forming Health Care Councils - Bellingham WA & Portland OR

5/16/2011

Part of the ORT strategy initiates the forming of strategic councils.  These councils meet regularly throughout the year to determine what does the Church need to pray and what should the Church (members of Christ's Church called into the healthcare sphere) be doing to express Christ's kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.

For example, we held an ORT Kick Off in Portland hosted by Ap. Paul Mackie in March 2011.  I taught them about how to form the councils.  By May a chairperson (retired doctor) was selected and they began to host their own council meeting to discover what transformation would look like in healthcare in the greater Portland region.

Here is an example from our WA ST CONECTer in Bellingham.  I helped them form their 7 councils in Nov. of 2007 during a conference on "How to Form a Transformation Task Force."  They've been operating for over 3 years now and here is a recent example of what their healthcare council is doing:

You are invited by the Health Care Sphere Team for an important vision casting meeting!!

Jeremy Schweder and Kelsie Bosman, leaders of the Health Care Sphere at Light of the World Prayer Center (LOWPC), are holding a meeting May 28, Saturday 11-1pm at the Prayer Center. We would like to share our vision, as well as hear what God is speaking to you within the context of this sphere. We believe God is moving and is asking believers in this season to get into position and alignment with His Heart, His Will and His Ways so that we can become extensions of Him to heal the sick and offer hope.

(just some of the many verses): JEHOVAH-RAPHA: Ex 15:26, Psalms 103:1-4, Pr 4:20-22, Isaiah 53:5, Isaiah 61:1, Matthew 10:1,12:15,14:36b, Acts 4:29-31.

The Vision: To see unity and a melding of health care and faith for healing in Whatcom County! Whether it is practicing medicine, preventative care, or praying for healing… it is for the glory of God to see each of these methods used and relied on to bring restoration to His people! Our desire is to connect health care workers with various ministries throughout the city to promote unity and faith, and testify of the healing power of God at work over this region.

We all need encouragement and inspiration. Think of what it would truly look like as Heaven’s Army is positioned with Faith-full Believers– Giving us the same Authority & Power as Jesus had by His Spirit to go forward in love and compassion, praying for the sick and setting captives free.

We believe for the day when:

Can you picture this?
**What has God put on your heart?

Significant Fact: Did you know St. Joseph’s Hospital was founded on the mission of Jesus Christ in 1891? … What does this 120th year hold?!

Please join us May 28, Saturday 11-1pm at Light of the World Prayer Center! We are looking forward to meeting you! We are excited to let the Lord guide our time, begin building a team, and lead us forward so this can truly be His “operation!”

A Church Elder's Report from Spokane WA

5/16/2011

Dear Tim,

Spokane Central Seventh-day Adventist Church engaged in 24 hours of prayer & fasting on May 6 & 7.  This was our part of Operation Rolling Thunder during the 39 days between the National Day of Prayer and the Global Day of Prayer. We began at 6 pm on Friday.

Enclosed are copies of the Prayer Points that we asked our prayer partners to pray each hour through the 24 hour period.  The yellow copy is points of prayer for our church and the institutions for which we have denominational engagement. For example, I am on the board of He’s Alive Television UHF 39. Many in our congregation are directly involved in the other institutions and programs.

The blue sheets include Prayer Points provided by ORTINW regarding the institutions where we live, work and have our being. There are additional points for state, federal and global issues.

Take a look at the little booklet, “What is Prayer?” put together by our prayer coordinator, Priscilla Sumagpang. This booklet was distributed to each person who committed to pray for an hour with the Prayer Points.

Using this booklet, we engaged in prayer instructions, particularly Sabbath afternoon.  This included, for example:

·        Prayer through singing hymns and songs from Scripture ;

·        Prayer in and through Scripture;

·        Prayer walking throughout the neighborhood where our church is located. This included praying for a high school, an elementary school, a nursing care facility for seriously disabled patients, for key corners in the neighborhood, and for other churches within four blocks of our church;

·        Fasting as we prayed; and plenty of

·        Praise and testimonies during the Friday evening vespers and throughout the Sabbath day-light hours.

John Tusant, Executive Director of the Greater Spokane Association of Evangelicals, invited Cindy Deresch, the ORTINW coordinator, and me to serve on the NDOP Planning Committee to put together the Spokane program for May 5. In meeting in the City Hall Chambers we heard Mayor Mary Verner plead for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and more prayer in City Hall. Her plea was echoed by City Councilwoman Nancy McLaughlin for prayer each Monday evening during Council meetings, as well as for government officials.

Our prayer is that Operation Rolling Thunder fills the heavens with a constant flow of prayer in aggressive action against the Satan and forces of evil.

Peace is preferred to war. But we are in war with Satan.

    I'd like to invite you to share your testimonies of what you've seen this strategy do for your church or community.  The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy and your testimony will inspire someone else with vision..
