The Strategy

In 2014 Operation Rolling Thunder became 1Church1Day.  Click here to learn more.

Operation Rolling Thunder is a mobilization strategy that empowers churches to harness the momentum from the National Day of Prayer (NDP) and the Global Day of Prayer (GDP) to launch 24/7/365 prayer in a cities, counties, regions and states.

2014
Phase I starts May 1 - Phase II June 9

__ ORT is a simple two phase strategy based on Psalm 18:6-14, Ephesians 4:16, Acts 15:16-17 and Nehemiah 2-4.

In Phase I, one congregation covers one day of prayer between NDP and GDP .  Cooperating we can do it quickly.  In Phase II the churches that participated in Phase I are asked to continue covering that day each month all year.  Just 31 churches can sustain 24/7 prayer all year long.

Because Proverbs 24:3-6 teaches us that wisdom is found in a multitude of counselors, added to the prayer strategy is the Transformation Task Force (TTF).  The TTF is comprised of kingdom-minded strategic leaders who form 7 councils, representing the 7 spheres of society (religion, business, government, media/arts/entertainment, education, healthcare and family).  These councils develop specific prayer targets for churches in phases I and II.  They also develop strategic action plans to transform their spheres through the gospel of the kingdom of Jesus Christ.  The canopy of prayer invites the Spirit of the Lord, who is the Spirit of wisdom and understanding and of counsel and might, into the TTF.  The addition of the presence of the Lord dynamically increases effectiveness.

Simple Steps

  1. Click here to get tools to equip your team to mobilize your church and city.
  2. Host an ORT Kick Off for your church/city/region.  This equips prayer leaders to help mobilize churches in your community while initiating the formation of a Transformation Task Force (7 strategic councils).
  3. Phase I begins on the National Day of Prayer and initiates the 24/7 prayer strategy
  4. Phase II starts after Global Day of Prayer and is accompanied by strategic outreach.
  5. These two phases which result in a 24/7/365 prayer strategy with the formation of strategic councils initiates a long term transformation strategy for your community.

Topeka KS began using ORT in May of 2009.  One year later they had formed 7 councils and their wall of prayer.  Click here to see ORT in Topeka.
